The Fort l'Écluse Via Ferrata, located in the municipality of Léaz in the Ain department, offers a splendid view of the Rhône River and the Écluse Gorge. The exit at the Fort adds even more interest to the route.

Description

The Via Ferrata runs along the steep limestone wall of the fort. It crosses more or less steep ledges, interspersed with comfortable ledges and terraces, and ends with a 15-metre rope bridge that allows you to cross the moat. The Fort l'Écluse via ferrata is rated as fairly difficult (AD) and is not recommended for beginners, especially without a guide. Access is free and can be done quite early in the season due to the low altitude. Independent routes and equipment hire from Fort l'Ecluse Aventure: www.fort-lecluse-aventure.com. Please note that it is essential to be equipped with via ferrata equipment (harness, helmet, lanyard with two carabiners and equipped with a shock absorber).
